Hardware Review of HyperX Cloud Alpha S Headset
Rankster's Review of HyperX Cloud Alpha S Headset
We've been using my HyperX Cloud Alpha S as my main headset for the past year now and can easily say it's the best headset We've ever owned! It's extremely comfortable with great sound quality and rigorous aluminum frame design that holds up well to daily wear and tear. With a price point of $129.99 on the HyperX website this headset provides a lot of value. It's offered in two color options, one being the blue banded version that we have and also an all black version; both come as a wired headset only.
Inside the box you'll find:
-Gaming headset with detachable microphone
-Detachable 3.5mm cable
-USB audio control mixer
-Additional cloth ear cushions
-Travel bag
After a year of use the leather cushions that come attached to the headset have held up incredibly well. Therefore we haven't used the additional cloth cushions, but it's nice to have that option if you prefer the feel of cloth over leather.
There are three key features that make HyperX Cloud Alpha S stand above the rest! It comes with HyperX's 7.1 surround sound which includes NGENUITY's power to auto-detect games and select the optimized surround sound profile to increase audio quality while PC gaming! The 7.1 surround sound feature can be toggled on and off easily through the use of the USB audio control mixer attached to the cable. Personally I prefer the 7.1 surround sound on, it makes everything sound better and clearer in my opinion.
Bass sliders is a key feature that allows for more comfort and audio control for the headset wearer. The sliders are easily accessible on the backside of the headset and can be moved from an open or closed position giving you 3 levels of bass adjustment. Leaving the sliders fully open allows for maximum bass levels and sliding them closed will reduce the base levels for the wearer, we personally leave it on Maximum base and love it!
The HyperX Dual Chamber drivers is the third key feature, it separates the bass frequencies from the mids/highs allowing for more distinct sounds and minimizes distortion. This is feature is extremely beneficial for audio mixing, video editing or just telling exactly where those enemy footsteps are coming from!
Pros:
-High Quality 7.1 Surround sound
-Bass Sliders for easy bass adjustment
-Extremely comfortable & rigorous Aluminum design
-Completely detachable cable & mic
Cons:
-Only available as a wired headset
-Limited color options, blue or black themed.
HyperX Cloud Alpha S gets a BIG recommendation from me, easily a 4.5/5 product in my opinion!
